Discordant Muse

What verse on earth
was ever written in joy...

Apparently, the music comes
when chords are cut or broken.
The golden lyre is tuned
in our shabby attic.

Epics of wounded heroes,
their arms are stiff holding
the spear for years,
and now suddenly they yearn
for their velvet slippers.

Performances on stage
under the tragic mask
or under the comic mask alike,
while events have carried through
some kind of adjustment.
